So far in the iPad series, we’ve looked at using Garageband, Auria and Cubasis on a tablet, and how it’s actually possible to use Garageband on the iPhone (at least with the 6, 6s and 7, including all the Plus models) to get ideas down whilst you’re away from the studio, and even away from anywhere where you can comfortably set up with a tablet.
We’re recording the intro with the Rode Smartlav+ through the iPhone 7’s included 3.5mm to lightning dongle (works perfectly well by the sounds of it) – then using the Audient iD4 to record the guitar input to Garageband – this also has a great microphone input with 48V phantom power, and two headphone sockets as well as separate speaker outs (which were used for capture in this video).
