In today’s video, we check out how a kick drum sounds without a hole in the resonant head, then with a hole cut in it.
For an extra bonus, we then added a KickPort and threw that into the comparison.
To answer questions – we didn’t put a mic in the hole, because OF COURSE that would change the results, it becomes a whole new microphone position. To keep things fair we keep the mics in their same positions so we can hear what the change is doing to the drum rather than what moving mic positions can do.
